18de Dag(en) van de Oude Geuze 2024

The Lambikstoempers asbl and Streekproducten Centrum Halle invite you to their…

18th DAY(S) OF THE OLD GUEUZE

This eighteenth edition will take place on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 September 2024, in a tent on the parking lot of the Streekproducten Centrum, Poststraat 3A in 1500 Halle. Saturday from 10am to 6pm and Sunday from 2pm to 6pm.

Last year, more than 650 interested parties, including a large number of foreigners, found their way to the Streekproducten Centrum to (re)discover the diverse flavour flavours of lambic beers!

Again this year, we will provide an extensive sampling of beers of spontaneous fermentation! Beers from the following breweries / blenderies will be available for tasting:

  • Ambreus (Buizingen)
  • Belgoo (Sint-Pieters-Leeuw)
  • Boerenerf (Huizingen)
  • Boon (Lembeek)
  • Brussels Beer Project (Brussels)
  • Cantillon (Anderlecht)
  • De Cam (Gooik)
  • De Cort (Pepingen)
  • Den Herberg (Buizingen)
  • De Troch (Wambeek)
  • Donder Brews (Vlezenbeek)
  • Eylenbosch (Kobbegem)
  • 3 Fonteinen (Beersel)
  • Girardin (Sint-Ulriks-Kapelle)
  • Hanssens (Dworp)
  • Kestemont (Sint-Gertrudis-Pede)
  • Lambiek Fabriek (Ruisbroek)
  • Lindemans (Vlezenbeek)
  • Mort Subite (Kobbegem)
  • Odilon (Bever)
  • Oud Beersel (Beersel)
  • 4 Pajot (Vlezenbeek)
  • Parrain (Beersel)
  • Sako (Gooik)
  • Taymans (Jette)
  • Tilquin (Rebecq)
  • Timmermans (Itterbeek)

To the delight of many beer lovers, we only serve real lambic beers. Namely those where 100% lambic is still used to obtain OLD GEUZE & KRIEK and where use is made of the yeast cells found in the air of the Zenne Valley.

This year, visitors will also again have the chance to taste a real lambic, the basic brew of gueuze. So we will also serve gueuze, kriek and other fruit lambics.

A little hungry? At the Streekproducten Centrum, you can get a plate of cheese, dry sausages, “mattetaart”, crisps… and soft drinks, for those who want them.

All beers are sold in 15cl tasting glasses. This should make it possible to taste several of these beers.

Entry to the Day(s) of the Old Geuze is FREE.

SCOOPS & TASTERS

As on previous editions, you can taste a number of special beers and firsts on the Day(s) of Old Gueuze. Among others, you can taste the Cuvée Lambikstoemper 2014, 2019 AND 2024, Timmermans Elderflower, Oude Kriek de Schaerbeek Tilquin, De Cort Schaarbeekse Kriek (in avant-première!), 4 Pajot Geuze Gaasbeek, Gueuze Tilquin 60/40 and Gueuze Tilquin 40/60, Devillé kriekenlambik, Kestemont Sterke Oude Geuze, Odilon Mirabel Lambiek, Hanssens Oude Geuze EXTRA etcetera…

For our now traditional ‘tasting board’, this year we chose to juxtapose a number of ‘new’ Old Geuze: Oude Geuze Ambreus, Van Aert Gueuze Artisanale, Oude Geuze Parrain, Oude Geuze Adelaar and our own Cuvée Lambikstoemper 2024. This tasting board was specially designed to allow visitors to order 5 glasses at a time and thus embark on a journey through a fascinating landscape of flavours.

GOLDEN LAMBIKSTOEMPER AWARD

Between 2010 and 2023, we annually awarded the Golden Lambikstoemper to the on-trade establishment that, in our opinion, paid the most attention to lambic beers that past year.

A number of tips came in this year too, but after anonymous site visits to the proposed cases and after many discussions, De Lambikstoempers vzw has come to the decision NOT to award a Golden Lambikstoemper in 2024.

None of the proposed hospitality businesses met all the criteria and, like the previous winners, a Golden Lambikstoemper Award has to be 100% deserved.

Hopefully, there will be another award ceremony of the Golden Lambikstoemper in 2025. Anyone wishing to do so can propose catering businesses all year round via our website.

Definitely do! And in the meantime, we look forward to seeing you on Saturday 28 September and/or Sunday 29 September, at our Day(s) of the Old Geuze 2024, in the tent on the parking lot of the Streekproducten Centrum (Halle), where the brand new Hotel Hallensis will also be solemnly opened. Be sure to come and have a look, every visitor gets 1 free drink!

Where can you buy our Cuvée Lambikstoemper 2024 Oude Geuze?

Cuvée Lambikstoemper 2024 Oude Geuze

On Saturday 1 June 2024, we, De Lambikstoempers vzw, proudly presented our new Cuvée Lambikstoemper 2024 Oude Geuze in the Council Room of the imposing Brouwershuis in Brussels, on the occasion of our 25th anniversary.

Since Sunday 1 September 2024, this unique old gueuze is also officially on sale, at a recommended retail price of €12.50 per bottle (75cl). Because yes, two bottles then nicely makes the number of our birthday. 😉

Where?

What?

Cuvée Lambikstoemper 2024 was blended by ourselves at Timmermans Brewery in Itterbeek (on 02/02/2023, 27/04/2023 and 21/09/2023).

This Old Gueuze (6.7% ABV) is a blend of 40% lambic from foeder 4 (brew 10/05/2023), 22.5% from pipe 214 (brew 26/03/2020), 24.2% from foeder 20 (brew 11/11/2019) and 13.3% from a Pinot Gris barrel (brew 24/03/2022), finally blended by the members of the board of De Lambikstoempers vzw on 21/09/2023, bottled in December 2023, spontaneously refermented in bottle and festively launched on 01/06/2024, in a ‘limited edition’ print run of 2. 556 bottles.

The label is a design by Kristof Verhasselt and, with the permission of Timmermans Brewery, is based on the brewery’s 2023 restyled labels that stand out for their sobriety and a striking colour palette.

Cheers!
