Pictures: IPA tasting

India Pale Ale (IPA) was first brewed in England in the 19th century, destined for the London market. That IPA had to be more strongly hopped to survive a long sea voyage to India to supply British troops with beer is not true.

Brasserie d’Achouffe did make an extremely hopped beer in 2006 at the request of an American importer. The Houblon Chouffe would subsequently become the reference of a new ‘beerstyle’ in the USA: the Belgian IPA. Many brewers followed and the IPA became a real hype in Belgium. In a few years, more than a hundred different IPAs were brewed in Belgium, and different types of IPAs also appeared on the market.

Thus, on Friday 2 February 2024, we tasted a Saison IPA, White IPA, Ginger IPA, Brut IPA, Kveik IPA, Black IPA, West-Coast IPA and so on… 10 copies in total!
