World Beer Awards 2016 for Lindemans and Oud Beersel

World Beer Awards 2016

As an annual tradition  the World Beer Awards were awarded in the UK. And yes, two Lambic brewers/-blenders were awarded!

Lindemans

In the category ‘World’s Best Fruit Lambic’ Lindemans BlossomGueuze took the gold, an assembly of 3 year old wood-aged Lambic, with a 12 month old Lambic and eriched with an infusion of elderflower.

In the same category brewery Lindemans (Vlezenbeek) also won silver with its Spontanbasil, while Lindemans Oude Kriek Cuvée René and Lindemans Cassis each won  a bronze medal.

On top of this Lindemans Special Blend 2010 and Lindemans Oude Gueuze Cuvée René respectively won gold and silver in the category ‘World’s Best Gueuze’. Or how Vlezenbeek suddenly is 6 World Beer Awards richer. Congratulations!

Oud Beersel

Blender Oud Beersel (Beersel) on the other hand can call its Oud Beersel Oude Geuze ‘World’s Best Gueuze’, thanks to the gold in the category with this name.

Of all beer styles with sour taste the Oud Beersel Oude Geuze is separately also named as ‘World’s Best Sour Beer’, while Oud Beersel Oude Kriek won silver in the category ‘World’s Best Fruit Lambic’.

Bzart Lambiek – the Belgian sparkling beer based on Oud Beersel Lambic – finally was proclaimed World’s Beste Brut/Champagne Beer. Or how also in Beersel 4 nieuwe World Beer Awards can be hung on the wall. Congratulations!

The Golden Lambikstoemper goes to …

Gouden Lambikstoemper 2016 't Parlement

… ‘t Parlement at Halle!

Based upon a now impressive list of horeca buinesses and a number of criteria (which were written after many hours of discussions) and after an anonymous visit on site of the proposed businesses we, the Lambikstoempers vzw, awarded the seventh Golden Lambikstoemper on Sunday 11 September 2016. The award goes to a business that, to our opinion, devoted the most attention to the Lambic beers in 2016.

This year the winner is ‘t Parlement (Klinkaert 10-19 at 1500 Halle), because of their nice range of Lambic beers (Oude Geuze, Oude Kriek …), but also Lambic in its pure form. Moreover, all this is served under  the Basilica tower with expertise and skill at which many horeca businesses would be jealous.

Top 3

The others of the top 3 of this year are … On second plcae: De Kluis at Buizingen, they also have a nice range of beers of spontaneous fermentation of the Pajottenland and the valley of the Senne.

This year the bronze is for the Centrumhotel at Beersel, where you always can find a good glass of Oude Geuze or Oude Kriek.

Finally our honorable mention this year goes to Eating café D’Akte at Sint-Kwintens-Lennik. Congratulations to all laureates!

20 year Streekproducten Centrum Halle

As always our Golden Lambikstoemper was awarded during our Day(s) of the Oude Geuze, which invariably takes place at the Streekproducten Centrum at Halle. And this year was a special edition, due to the celebration of their 20th anniversary, with a genuine market of regional products on their parking.
