Of course the in-house produced products can also be tasted.
Be sure to come along and let you taste buds take you to overly delicious products of your region! Also discover all articles new in the assortment of the Streekproducten Centrum. 13th Day of the Oude Geuze
This thirteenth edition takes place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 November 2018, in the upper room of the Streekproducten Centrum, Poststraat 3A at 1500 Halle. Saturday from 10h to 18h and Sunday from 14h to 18h.
Last year more than 650 interessees, among which a large number of foreigners, found their way to the Streekproducten Centrum to (re)discover the several tasts of Lambic Beers!
Also this year we bring you an extensive number of beers of spontaneous fermentation. You can taste the beers of the following breweries / blenders: Boon (Lembeek), Cantillon (Anderlecht), De Cam (Gooik), De Troch (Wambeek), Drie Fonteinen (Beersel), Girardin (Sint-Ulriks-Kapelle), Hanssens (Dworp), Lambiek Fabriek (Ruisbroek), Lindemans (Vlezenbeek), Mort Subite (Kobbegem), Oud Beersel (Beersel), Tilquin (Rebecq) and Timmermans (Itterbeek).
We only serve, to the joy of many beer lovers, the real Lambic beers. Namely those OUDE GEUZE & OUDE KRIEK that still contain 100 % Lambic and where the ferments found in the air of the Valley of the Senne are still used. We are therefore proud that we can provide you with the full assortment of the still active Lambic breweries and blenders from the region in one single location.
This year the visitors will again have the opportunity to taste a real Lambic, the basic brew of Geuze. We provide you with three Lambics, straight from the wooden fusts of the local Lambic brewers.
Next to Lambic we also serve Geuze, Kriek, Faro, Raspberry beer … and one beer that isn’t spontaneous fermented: our own Servais beer, a top fermented beer brewed for the year of Servais, a festival beer with a low alcohol by volume percentage of 6,5%. Coffee and waters are also available.
All beers are sold in tasting glasses of 15 cl. This way you should be able to taste several beers of our assortment.
And yes, the entrance of the Day of the Oude Geuze is FREE.
Scoops and tasters
As with the previous editions of the Day of the Oude Geuze you can taste a number of special beers and scoops. Amongst others you can taste the Fontan-Elle (Lambiek Fabriek), Cuvée Lambikstoemper 2014, Boon Black Label 1st, 2nd én 3rd Edition, HORAL Megablend 2013 & 2017, Oude Groseille Rouge (Tilquin), BlossomGueuze (Lindemans), Boon/Mikkeller Oude Geuze Vermouth …
For our, by now, traditional tasting board this year we selected the Lambic series of Oud Beersel to put in the spotlights. We gladly serve serve 18 months, 2 and 3 year old Lambic, Faro (not overly sweet) and rhubarb Lambic on our board. This tasting board was especially designed to let our visitors order 5 glasses at the same time and go through a exiting tasting landscape.
Issue of the Gouden Lambikstoempers 2018
Every year the Lambikstoempers vzw want to put the Lambic beers in the spotlight by issuing De Gouden Lambikstoemper.
The first Gouden Lambikstoemper in 2010 went to De Heeren van Liedekercke (Denderleeuw), the second went to Kaf’eko (Halle), the third to Boelekewis (Huizingen), the forth to De Zwaan (Dworp), the fifth to ’t Antwaerps Bierhuyske (Antwerpen), the sixth, exceptionally, to the Streekproducten Centrum (Halle), the seventh to ’t Parlement (Halle) and last year the mnagers of Foeders (Amsterdam) came over to receive their Gouden Lambikstoemper.
Based on a by now impressive list of horeca businesses and a number of criteria (drawn up after many hours of deleberations) and after an anonymous visit to the site of the businesses, De Lambikstoempers vzw will issue the Gouden Lambikstoemper for the ninth time on Sunday 25 November 2018 at 15.00 h to a horeca business that, in their eyes, spend the most attention to Lambic beers in 2018.
De Gouden Lambikstoemper 2018 is an artfull certificate with a poem made by Ludo Buggenhout.
By the way, everyone can suggest Horeca businesses throughout the whole year through our website. Who knows, you can provide us with the winner of next year. Be sure to check it out!
Meanwhile we are expecting you on Saturday 24 (from 10h to 18h) and Sunday 25 (from 14h to 18h) November 2018, in the upper room of the Streekproducten Centrum, Poststraat 3A at 1500 Halle. See you then!
